FANDANGO WEEK

The Fandango Week, which took place between 29.10 and 04.11.2016, held presentations, shows, workshops and experiences in various parts of the city of São Paulo involving traditional groups from Fandango in the Ribeira Valley in dialogue with musicians and artists from the state capital.
There were 6 days of exchange between expressions of popular culture with languages ​​and aesthetics of São Paulo.

DAY 1 | THE ATLANTIC MATA AT THE TASTE OF RIMAS AND RABECAS
Biome • Culture • Artistic expressions

A “JAM” of popular culture, which brought together old music, fandango and hip hop, tasting Atlantic Forest flavors offered by the Instituto Auá and Instituto Socioambiental, in a dialogue with the place of origin of these products provided by the scenography of Marcelo Rosenbaum and Coletivo Bijari. All this culminated in a joyful bike-courtship that occupied the public space, crossing the Faria Lima with lots of music, love and diversity.

12 pm: Opening with the Old Music Ensemble of USP

2 pm: Shake shop
2:40 pm: Improvisation with Conjunto de Música Antiguo from USP and Bboys
3:30 pm: Jam with all the musicians
4 pm: Departure of the bike-courtship (Bijari bicycles), passing through the Largo da Batata to Iguatemi Shopping

DAY 2 | CLEAN FIELD CONNECTION – CARDOSO

Mini Festival of Brazilian popular culture in the House of Culture of Campo Limpo. With group presentations and live graffiti with Luna Buschinelli.
In this meeting, MC Diel, DJ Bola e Macarrão of A BANCA were the hosts and made the bridge (by hip hop) between the musical universe of rap with the fiddles, improvises and shakes of the fandango.

DAY 3 | LANDSCAPES AND POETRY: MULTILINGUAL INTERACTIONS

The landscape of the Ribeira Valley was reckoned with its chronicles, legends, causes, geography and history through the poetry of Julião and the chords of Lara Cantador do Vale, which led us to the musical trail and improvisation in a tone of contemporary Brazilian music. The fandangueiros residents of Vale do Ribeira were spectators that day.

DAY 4 | CRAFTS OF RAPES AND VIOLATIONS

Luthiers caiçaras meet young people from the GURI project
With this meeting, we sought to bring the young students from the Lutheran Core of the GURI Project to the artisanal “saber” of making fandango instruments, opening space for discussions about origins, woods, tuning modes, etc.

SHOW ON THE STREET: TIÃO CARVALHO INVITES ZÉ PEREIRA

The show:
The singer and composer Tião Carvalho invited Mestre Zé Pereira to bring to the public a repertoire of songs and other songs from the popular Brazilian songbook, including genres such as baião, sambas, xotes, bumbá-bois, among others, accompanied by the aristocratic fiddle Your Zé Pereira.
Context and Food:
Next to the stage, a “caiçaromaranhense” small bar offered small snacks with flavors from the regions of the Ribeira Valley and Maranhão.
